VN-2000 ↔ WGS-84 coordinate converter (Vietnam)
Vietnamese land certificates print corner coordinates in VN-2000, a 3° Transverse Mercator zone whose central meridian depends on the province (107°45′ for Lâm Đồng, 105°00′ for Hanoi). Pick the province, paste the X, Y pairs and get WGS-84 latitude and longitude for Google Maps, or convert the other way. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How to use it in 3 steps
- Pick the province that issued the certificate (meridians are listed).
- Paste the coordinates: one point per line, X (north) then Y (east).
- Press Convert, open each point in Google Maps or download CSV or KML.
What X and Y mean on a Vietnamese land certificate
X is the northing (7 digits, e.g. 1,296,540) and Y the easting (6 digits, e.g. 496,810, including 500,000 m at the central meridian) in VN-2000, a 3° Transverse Mercator zone with scale factor 0.9999. GPS and Google Maps use WGS-84 degrees, so the numbers must be converted first. Swapped X and Y are detected and fixed.
Accuracy
The converter applies the national seven parameters of Decision 05/2007/QĐ-BTNMT as EPSG:6960 defines them (coordinate frame rotation). It matches proj4 to under 1 mm and 21 points published by Vietnamese authorities in both systems: within 0.04 m for 8 points in a 2025 Lâm Đồng Department of Industry and Trade report (meridian 107°45′), within 0.19 m for navigation notice 136/2025 and Can Tho port buoys, below the 0.01″ rounding of those values.
Central meridians of the 63 former provinces
From Appendix 01 of Circular 26/2024/TT-BTNMT. After the 1 July 2025 merger, cadastral maps made earlier keep their meridian (Circular 23/2025/TT-BNNMT), so one current province may use several.

Frequently asked questions
Which central meridian should I use?
Use the meridian of the former province that issued the certificate: for example 107°45′ for Lâm Đồng, 105°00′ for Hanoi, 105°45′ for Ho Chi Minh City. The province list shows the meridian next to each name.
The province was merged in 2025. Which one do I pick?
Pick the former province. Cadastral maps made before 1 July 2025 keep their original meridian under Circular 23/2025/TT-BNNMT.
Why is my point hundreds of metres off?
Usually the wrong province (meridian), a missing or extra digit, or coordinates in the older HN-72 system. X always has 7 digits and Y has 6.
How accurate is it?
Within 0.04 m of eight points published in both systems in Lâm Đồng, and within 0.2 m elsewhere. The certificate data and field marks are usually the larger source of error.
Are my coordinates uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in JavaScript in your browser.
